Every Canadian deserves the dignity of a good job. Not a gig, not a “side hustle,” but real work that pays the bills, keeps a roof overhead, and lets families live with security and pride.
For too long, this country has worked for the few at the top while the people who actually build it are told to tighten their belts. Politicians call it “the economy.” Working people call it what it is: a system rigged for the rich.
Rob Ashton’s Good Job Promise is a commitment to turn that around, to put power and prosperity back in the hands of the people who make this country run. It’s a national commitment that everyone who wants to work can count on a good job with fair wages, safe conditions, dignity on the job, and a union to back them up. These are jobs that serve the public good: building homes, maintaining infrastructure, caring for people, restoring the environment, and protecting the future we share.
My Commitments
- A job for everyone who wants one.
If you’re ready to work, there will be a place for you — building homes, building the infrastructure our communities need, caring for others, restoring our environment, or strengthening our communities. No more being cast aside because the “market” says you don’t fit. - Fair wages, strong standards.
We’ll raise the floor for everyone. These will be good, union-backed jobs that force private employers to compete by paying and treating workers better — not worse. - Building the future we deserve.
Massive public investments in housing, transit, clean energy, and community infrastructure will create hundreds of thousands of jobs and rebuild the country from the ground up. - No more corporate free rides.
Every public dollar will come with strings attached. If a corporation takes public money, it must protect Canadian jobs and treat workers with respect. No more subsidies for CEOs who pocket bonuses while laying off staff. No more blank cheques to the ruling class. - A Central Bank that works for people.
The Bank of Canada’s job won’t just be to protect investors from inflation. Its job will be to make sure everyone who wants to work can find a good job — because an economy that serves capital instead of people is a broken one.
This is a commitment rooted in the values that built this country: solidarity, dignity, and hard work. Because when working people have good jobs, everyone benefits — and when the ruling class calls that “radical,” it only proves we’re on the right track.
